Job Description
This dual-function role is responsible for (1) the financial accounting, reporting, and controllership activities for the North America and Canada distribution entities, and (2) global revenue accounting and ASC606 compliance.
Based in Asia, this role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, maintains a strong internal control environment, and partners across global finance, sales, legal and technical accounting to drive consistency in revenue recognition and controllership practices. The Controller will play a critical role in performing or directing revenue transactions, audits and analyses, supporting local and global audits, reviewing customer and development agreements, and enabling strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the supported regions.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Accounting, Reporting & Controllership (50%)
Financial Accounting & Reporting
· Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for North America and Canada distribution legal entities.
· Review and validate financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
· Partner with global and regional teams to develop and manage budgets and forecasts aligned with corporate objectives.
· Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and performance optimization.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
· Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment across all finance processes.
· Continuously evaluate and improve control frameworks to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.
· Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in financial operations. - Revenue Accounting (50%)
Revenue Accounting
· Partner with cross-functional teams to monitor and track non-standard revenue transactions, provide guidance on required actions, ensure accurate revenue treatment, resolve issues, audit revenue transactions, and maintain strong revenue-related controls and processes.
· Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Sales Operations, and Legal to review non-standard sales agreements, provide input on contract terms, summarize key provisions, and coordinate required approvals and accounting treatment with finance leadership.
· Conduct financial and sensitivity analyses to support policy decisions and broader finance initiatives.
· Participate in global projects, system enhancements, and initiatives related to revenue, accounting, and financial operations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
· Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with strong exposure to revenue recognition.
· Experience in multinational corporations and cross-border operations.
SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· Deep knowledge of US GAAP revenue recognition principles.
· Strong managerial, communication, and leadership skills.
· Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across cultures.
